METARs and TAFs
METARs are routine hourly METeorological Aerodrome (airport) Reports. A typical METAR contains data, such as: temperature, dew point, wind speed & direction, weather phenomena (precipitation, etc), cloud cover & heights, visibility, and barometric pressure.
Terminal Aerodrome (airport) Forecasts, or TAFs, give a concise statement of expected weather conditions at an airport during a specified period (usually 24 hours). It may contain the same data such as: wind speed & direction, prevailing horizontal visibility, current weather conditions, cloud cover & heights.
